DD VERIFY
How Results Work
DD Verify, an email verification service operated by Data Dabble, Inc., checks whether an email address looks ready to receive mail, and labels it with one of four results. A result describes what we saw at the moment we checked.
| Result | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Valid | The mail server accepted the address when we checked. This generally indicates the address is capable of receiving mail, but it does not guarantee future delivery. | Lower risk than other results, but still follow your normal sending and consent rules. |
| Invalid | The address cannot receive mail: the domain has no mail setup, or the server said the mailbox does not exist. | Remove it from your list. |
| Catch-All | The domain accepts mail for any address, so we cannot tell whether this particular mailbox exists. | Your call. Treat it as a risk: it may reach a person or it may bounce. |
| Unknown | We could not get a reliable answer. The server may have been busy, slow, or blocking checks. | Check again later, or treat it with care. |
Good to know
- Catch-All is a limit, not a verdict. Some company mail systems accept every address. For those, we tell you the domain behaves that way, but we do not claim to know whether an individual mailbox exists.
- Some servers protect themselves. Security gateways may delay or hide answers, which can produce Unknown or Catch-All results.
- Results can go stale. People change jobs and mail systems change. Re-verify lists before big sends.
- We do not promise a bounce rate. Verification lowers risk. It cannot remove it.
You own the decision about whom to email. Please follow the law where you send, including consent and unsubscribe rules.
